Ernő Rubik was born in Budapest, Hungary. He was a professor of architecture in Budapest, his home town. The early models of the Rubik's cubes were called Magic Cubes, or Buvos Kocka. He used the first model of the Rubik's cube (Or; The Magic Cube, as it was called at the time) to teach his class about spatial relations.
The Rubik's Cube was actually not supposed to be possible. In 1975 Erno Rubik actually created the first working cube using wood and rubber bands. In 1977 The first 'Magic Cube' was sold in a toy shop in Budapest.
In 1980, The 'Magic Cube' was renamed The 'Rubik's Cube' in honour of it's inventor, Erno Rubik . In 1981, "You Can Do The Cube" by Patrick Bossert, sold 1.5 million copies. In 1982 The very first annual International Rubik's Cube Championships were held.
In 1990, Ernő Rubik became President of the Hungarian Engineering Academy. The Cube Celebrated its 25th Anniversary on July 26th, 2005. In 2013, A new cube was Created! The Speed Cube! Brand new faster action mechanics and durable tough tiles.
